BCE IS INCREDIBLY LUCKY TO OPERATE OUT OF SUDLEY FARM
Put simply, it is unrivaled in the surrounding area. Working together, Valerie and Elizabeth Bonner have created a world class eventing training facility and are looking forward to the development of the partnership for years to come!
Sudley Farm is located on 130 horse friendly acres in West River, MD, and very convenient to Annapolis, Baltimore, and Washington, D.C.. Head Groom Liz Emersen lives on site at Sudley Farm, provides unparalleled care for our horses, and keeps the facility running smoothly. It operates as a private farm, so please make arrangements with Valerie to come for a visit.
Rest assured, each horse is cared for and attended to as though it is one of our own! The Blue Clover Eventing working students are trained to pay detailed attention on the day to day care of your horse, we take great pride in knowing that all of our horses are healthy and happy! This routine care happens on a very professional level and is included in the monthly cost.
For all clients, the 12-stall stable includes everything for human and creature comfort. The accommodations include but are not limited to:
- Large equipment areas
- Wash stalls
- Grooming areas
- Outside patios
- Run-in sheds with overhangs in all paddocks
The arenas provide a lot of options, and give each horse and rider the opportunity to make the most out of each training session. Both arenas easily accommodate ship in horses and lessons as well.
- Indoor standard-regulation dressage court with state-of-the-art footing
- Mirrors lining nearly entire arena
- Large indoor viewing area
- 125x240 outdoor arena with all-weather footing
Clients don't have to ride in just arenas! There are numerous opportunities for trotting and hacking, either around the vast hay fields or through paths cutting throughout the property.
- Best conditioning hill in the area
- Cross country schooling course (see below for more detail)
As lovely as Sudley Farm is, BCE does move south for the winter months from January through March. The climate and footing in Florida allow Valerie to train outside and start the competition season much earlier than if BCE were to stay at Sudley Farm for the entire winter.
For boarding and training, please see the Rates page. For a full list of Valerie’s credentials, please visit the Highlights page.
Please don’t hesitate to contact Valerie about any questions you may have or special circumstances including clinic opportunities!
CROSS COUNTRY COURSE
The cross country course construction began in the fall of 2013, with the construction of many portable fences replicating what horses will negotiate at recognized competitions from Beginner Novice through Prelim level. There is a highly versatile water jump, as well as ditches and banks to conquer the technical aspects of the sport as well.
